GOD HOOD (v 1.0)
					   PART 1

	Hi, this is my first attempt at an Eva fic and comments and criticism are greatly appreciated at 
either c-mann@home.com or look for c-mann on ICQ

	As with any other fanfic now is the time for disclaimers: All characters during this story and all
 ideas about personalities are in the respective custody (except for a slight tweak with some 
characters) to Gainax, AD Vision and all other share holders and companies.  I will take this time to 
state that since I am not gaining money from making this fic and since it is a parody (of sorts) of the 
show it is completely legal to produce fics and I will definitely continue to.

	First of all this will slightly change the ending of the movie (The end of Evangelion) and 
contains very few spoilers (none purposely used unless needed to understand where the story begins),
 and also please tell me if there is any spelling and/or grammar mistakes (I am a neat freak and they 
drive me crazy.

					 **NOTES**
	1. Rei is now able to express some feelings a bit more accurately (I guess because of dying) 
and is coping to understand new feelings better.

	2. Shinji wakes on the beach like in the end of the second Evangelion movie but 
everyone except 
him is dead.

	3. An Elder God is the head god in that Galaxy and the highest respected as well.

Now it is time for the show to begin!


			  Act 1: The awakening of Shinji Ikari 

	Shinji awoke dazed and slightly confused, and as soon as he tried to reflect on the happenings
of before his "slumber", he sent his mind reeling in a garbling of information that had not all sank in 
yet.  He wondered where he was for a minute, it seemed so quiet, tranquil and scenic.  He thought 
Rei would love to see scenery such as this, since she was always staring out the window in class, and 
then the first memory struck him like a freight train, Rei, the souls, everyone gone and then he slowly 
began to recap every death in his head, slowly torturing 
himself but needing the information.  

	He winced at the death of the NERV employees and slowly held back tears thinking of the 
deaths of Ritsuko, Maya, and then Misato.  He told himself weeping would solve nothing and he 
must find out what to do next, and then surprising even to him, there was the tear he shed when he 
thought of his Father's last words, I am sorry Shinji, did he mean it, was he really proud of him all 
those years and just felt that his wife's death shut all his feelings at a standstill and that he could not 
love.

	Then, came the death of Asuka, she wasn't all that bad a person down inside; and his friends 
Kensuke; Hikari; Touji, a fellow pilot; and poor Rei, at that he began to weep uncontrollably and 
after ten straight minutes began thinking again and then began weeping again.  Even his Unit One was 
gone, and at that thought he tried to think of how he had got out of Unit One and where Unit One 
was.  

	After days of weeping, sleeping, weeping and then finally finding fresh water in a spring he 
still cried as the thoughts barraged him and the mystery of Unit One confused him.  Can't anyone help 
me, answer any of my questions? he screamed.  

	At that moment a clear, strong and wonderful voice spoke; he noted it sounded more like 
singing.  "I will answer your questions and put your mind at ease"; it said.

	He wondered and then asked; "who took me out of my Eva and where is it?"  It then 
answered, coming from behind him instead then from all around; "I took you out of the Eva and as 
for the second half of you question, your Eva was shot into outer space when the reckoning of souls 
occurred leaving you as the sole survivor."  "Reckoning of souls?  Sole survivor, what does this all 
mean?"  "It means, Shinji Ikari, that the human race has been saved from the impurities being brought 
upon it by beginning it all over, and you have been chosen as the next Adam to rebuild the 
civilization."

	"What?"; Shinji said.  Slowly for the first time turning around he noticed what he was talking 
to was familar, and then it came to him; "you, your Lilith"

	Once again she spoke; "Shinji, you must choose either Asuka or Rei as the Eve of the new 
civilization.  You will be given 48 hours to decide; and then she blinked out of existence."

	"What?"; Shinji said profoundly; "choose between them?"


				     Act 2: Decisions

	What am I going to do?; he thought.  I can't choose between one or the other; tears welling 
up in his eyes.  What did I do to deserve such a fate; he asked to anyone who would listen.

	Little did he know that far off in a place unreachable to him, 7 pairs of eyes were watching 
him and wondering what to do.  One was speaking to itself saying that she needed to help and failed 
him as a guardian.  Out of all the eyes, 4 of them were watching the most intense of the group.  One pair 
of eyes were red and Shinji had been lost in them many times.  Another was watching, blue eyes 
glowing hoping to 'win' his affection, having everything thought by that person to be a competition; 
though secretly know to even her she wished to be close to him.  Another was watching with pure 
motherly love and concern in her eyes, she had been watching him from afar much longer than any of 
the others had.  The fourth, eyes unseen behind thick glasses, wished that he could have loved Shinji 
more in life and let it known to even himself that he cared about the boy; no, man; as much as he 
realized now.

	So, as Shinji wept still being watched, he started to arrange his thoughts in some sort of 
order.  First, he thought of Asuka and the many cruel things she had said to him, but also the kind 
gestures that were so important because of their scarcity.  He had saved her life and respected her, 
even if the feeling wasn't always mutual, which it was.  She tries to act independent and work alone, 
but she is kind when the need arises and not to much of a bother because he knew that she knew 
deep down, that she liked having him around more than other males.

	Next he thought of Ayanami; Rei Ayanami, he sighed at the words, she was someone that was hard to be 
around for expressing her feelings back, but Shinji, unlike anyone else was partly able to tell what her 
feelings were by looking into those deep red voids that were her eyes.  She can express feelings, she 
just finds it hard, and there was something between them, kind of like a bond of understanding and 
mutual concern.  He was caught many times looking into her eyes and not being able to escape from 
their magnetic pull.  She said little to anyone other than Shinji, her only real friend; and respected him 
very highly.  She was the original reason that he agreed to pilot Unit One.  After, he also searched 
for respect and pride from his father, but seeing her so helpless and frail, like a 'doll' made him feel 
he couldn't run away and allow his father to put her in the Eva injured.

	He now was again thinking of the choice he must make, and the time left having a day past 
already.  He once again began sobbing at the thought of choosing and betraying the love and respect 
of one of them, while being eternally bound to the other.  Then, as if out of nowhere, he was hit with 
a realization and decided, now having the answer, he should now rest his weary head.


				   Act 3: Moment of truth

	As he awoke, he decided to begin with his usual behavior which consisted of drinking, 
catching a fish from the fresh water spring and cooking it, and weeping when the thought of the 
decision came back to him.  Only this time, the weeping had barely lasted one minute before he 
stopped and quietly spoke to himself; he considered this the best way to remain sane, hearing the 
voice of someone, anyone, including himself.

	After waiting for quite a while, Lilith appeared and spoke; "it has been 48 hours, who is your 
choice."  After slowly making an attempt to look like he was deep in thought he said; "I have chosen 
the death of humanity over the choosing of one of two I love for and care for so deeply."  Seeing the 
stunned look on the Lilith's face he continued; "if all impurities are to be removed I cannot at this time 
choose either without bringing forth a feeling of longing for both and competition."

	"I am very surprised and moved by your decision, even though it is not the desired 
result"  Then Lilith thought; it is the desired result but I cannot say that. "It will be respected and you 
will now be rejoined with your loved ones in the sprit plane."

	As the she spoke, she seemed to shimmer and glow so intensely that Shinji had to close his 
eyes, and when he opened them, he could see everyone he had longed for; Asuka, Rei, Touji, 
Kensuke, Hikari, Kaji, Misato, Mother, and even Father (and he was smiling).  

	"Shinji, for your honour, respect of feelings of others over your own, and even sacrificing to 
be with one you loved to not hurt the other, you have been chosen as the new Elder God"; said the 
Lilith in a very soft tone.  "Long we have searched for a new Elder God capable of the extents of 
compassion and caring you have shown, and I am sure that in time the matter of recolonization will 
be dealt with by you."  Also, your fellow pilots have achieved god status, for the trials and hardships 
aginst humanities enemies the Angels and eventually humanity itself, meaning they may travel between 
the Physical, Spirit, and God planes as well as be permitted incalculable power and control only 
second to yours.

	Rei immediately ran towards him, surprisingly emotional behavior for her, and hugged him 
very tightly as well as burying her face in his chest wishing never to let ago.  Eventually, she broke the 
hug feeling Asuka's presence behind her and moved slowly out of the way, a blush spreading wide 
across his face.  In the background, Kaji and Misato laughed holding hands, as well did Yui and 
Gendou. 

	Even more surprising then the Rei incident, Asuka hugged him, not as much as Rei though 
but still causing his blush to deepen.

	Next, Touji and Hikari came over together and put an arm on each of his shoulders, and 
stated that they missed him.  After which Touji recieved a slap from Hikari for a comment said to 
Shinji about the Asuka/Rei choosing thing.

	Next, Kaji came and formally shook his hand while Misato had him in a death grip of hug.

	Yui then came forward, kissed him on both cheeks and said that she missed him greatly and 
that she had always watched over him and wished to be back with him.

	And then as Yui stopped, Gendou came forward and asked if his son would forgive him for 
the way he had treated him in life and hugged his son, then solemnly shook his hand.  Shinji, a flood 
of emotions burst out in tears of joy and happiness.

	He had not been this happy since he was small boy when his mother was still alive.
