Old Ummagurau Art |
|
In the earliest days of my website (mid 1997), the very top page was a brief (if cluttered) text index that included a bunch of text about myself, direct links to a few big projects (The Umgurai Saga and a growing anime page chief among them), and not much else. As things started to get more complex, I sought a cleaner and more unique visual look for the site index that eventually manifested itself in the Grid of Nine, a 3x3 table of circular icons that each led to one of Umma's "top-level" sections. By the Summer of 2001, though, it was becoming apparent that this "clean" design was in fact just as cluttered as what preceded it, and in trying to produce nine core sections to make the Grid look nice, I had a number of redundant and minor items masquerading as "top-level." At the same time, I wanted to give all of Umma a more consistent look throughout, at least extending down to the main subpages. The Grid of Nine was, thus, scrapped for the much more browsable and logical Row of Four, which was the central navigating tool for Ummagurau.com for several years, through the "Pastel Era" which ended in the fall of 2004 when I established the crowded if direct "everything at your fingertips" front page. This pretty much was the death of all the old buttons, but they're now displayed below for your considerable entertainment. |
